That fire in the DistanceA Poem by CocoacandyShe tries to hide her feelings beneath, The cloak of her face hiding her feelings, In cognito. She shows her fake front, Day after day, Hiding her hatred, Hiding the lies. Her friends watch from the distance, Ignoring the signals, Going along with the charade. But can it be, there is a fire burning in the distance? A fire, Burning with desire, The desire to kill, To feast, To make rights. A fire with a smoke so toxic, You become evil at a breath, Your eyes burn red, And your nails grow sharp. Then while locked in a space, Infinite and nonexistent, True in only the minds of the entombed, And perpetually holding lost souls. These souls, forced to wander, forever searching, for that fire in the distance. © 2012 CocoacandyReviews
