Average American SnowmanA Poem by Cocoacandyrandom thoughts...... random lines....
Snowy landscapes fill the windows,
While warm inside the fire crackles. The cup in my hand warms my fingers, The air outside cools the snowman. Why does that man always Choose to be frozen, Motionless out in the yards? Why doesn’t he have a family, A job, a pet? Why must he always be pale, Fat, and expressionless? I set down the mug with my still-frozen fingers, and bundle up once again. I create for this man A body, A wife, Children, And a dog, A nose, two eyes, And two ears. Then I step back to survey my work. In front of me I see A fantasy life. One that no one Actually lives. I move the man away from his family, Give him a briefcase and a cell phone, A top hat, and a scarf, Then a little more snow around the waist Of the children, mom, and dad. Once I’m finished, I step back to survey my work. Before me, I see the average American family. I smile and then trudge back inside To finish my hot cocoa. © 2011 CocoacandyFeatured Review
