New Best Friend

New Best Friend

A Poem by Cocoacandy

Stuck here now in a rut,

Feel like you punched me in the gut.

I just want to shout it out loud.

Gripping tightly the handle,

Led by the light of one lonely candle.

Thought we’d walk together on the Wharf,

Now the idea makes me feel I’ll barf.

Caught here in this turmoil,

Wish I was buried beneath the soil.

Filled with despair, these walls closing in,

Lost here to celebrate it, lost in eternal sin.

Background turns to black,

I never want to go back.

Used to see me smile,

But now I’ll just sit here awhile,

Thinking about the days we used to sit and talk,

Or say we were bored and go for a walk.

Thinking of the memories,

My hair moved by the slight breeze.

Not sure how this happened,

Looks like I need a new best friend.

I can really relate to this piece, as I'm sure [unfortunately] many others can. I love this verse:
"Used to see me smile,
But now I’ll just sit here awhile,
Thinking about the days we used to sit and talk,
Or say we were bored and go for a walk."
It brings back so many memories. This was an amazing read.

I wish I wasn't 2500 miles from the ocean. When I was station at Fort ord. I like walking on the beach. I would get up early and walk from Fort Ord to Monterey. Found gift from the sea on my 5 am walks. We need friends to keep us strong. I had few who desire to awake at 4 am for a long walk and coffee. I know the feeling of this poem. I have few friends willing to have long talks and find places that few can see. I like the ending. If I get lucky. I will take me a vacation to California and see the powerful sea one more time. A excellent poem.
