Poets of the Past

Poets of the Past

A Poem by Cocoacandy
"

a shout out to all of the poets that have come before us. Without them, we wouldnt have the wonderful art of poetry.

"
Come all,
Writers or not,
And sit around this fire,
Prepared for us
By the Poets of the Past.

By Poe and Dickenson,
And Whitman and Frost,
And we’ll listen to the words
Of these greats of our world.

The inspiration of our lives,
With who wrote before us,
To give an escape
To those with opinions
For those with a pen in hand.

We’ll dance in the light of their eyes,
And sing of their verses.
While they hum a tune
On the wind in the willows.

Then at last we’ll put to bed,
The memories of the past,
But never forget
The Poets of the Past.
