Requiem for the Generations

Requiem for the Generations

9/11 has not been forgotten, and the sleeping gian may never again sleep

Requiem for the Generations

In this great land, we set our sights on higher things
Like equality among all, and each may take a stand
We fought for the right for each to protest as we fight for that very right
We sent our sons and daughters to foreign soils
Their blood to shed for our love of freedom, our very way of life!

Crashing into reality they came, striking from behind
Using our own devices, yes, even our own teachers
As they defiled and desecrated symbols of this great freedom we protect
Caring with so much passion for their own mission their own lives
They were willing to give while their leaders hide in true fear!

Strange that day, almost like a flash
That battle we lost, yet now they begin to realize
Would this come to their land, would not be possible
Freedom and training they had not, nor would ever have
The very freedom they strike against allowed them this battle to win!

Now the battle still raging the foe does begin to understand
This great land only stumbled as a giant from a great slumber
Now pounds without mercy the sands, mountains, valleys and rivers
Their refuge once, now their prison as seek them out we will
And allow them the freedom of our own true justice.

Run into the very depths of the earth and we will follow
Sparing not our breath or flesh as justice seeks to prevail.
Hide, yes hide as you run. I’ll watch from my recliner as your leaders
Send nervous replies from caves, ready to seek shelter
As our overhead war machine seeks to destroy!

One battle lost, just one which provoked rage not seen for generations
As our young become the leaders of this land,
They were impressed with your images burned upon their young minds
Even if we fail to find you these images you caused to impress
Will bring forth a new generation to seek you out as forgotten they have not!

Sorry it took me so long to review this. Beautiful tribute. Though we have comfort now that the b*****d in charge is now dead, it doesnt mean lives are back and those towers are standing once more. NYC will never be the same. Nicely written. A great write!

EVERYTHING changed after that day and our younger ones do pay the price. Naivity and innocense, now lost. You did a great job with remembering this great day and bringing out the truth. :)
