When Words do fail

When Words do fail

A Poem by George Love
"

Greif can't be washed away by words, only time

"

When Words do Fail

Words now fail to fall from my lips
Seeing you in such deep distress
Words of comfort seem so trite
This pain you suffer harshly bites
Making simple seem impossible
And days seem desperate
Night folds deepening
Only deafening your silent sobs.

Words now fail in this pale light
Nothing in your world ever again right
Loss so deep looms even greater
As now the final chapter closes
On one untimely taken
As most have done so did he
Felt immortal till that last breath
Did escape his lips into the night.

Tis not the first, will be not the last
Yet pain and suffering see we not
From deep within; we find out strength
And yet boldly stare into those silent eyes
Knowing we dare not blink
Nor lower our eyes
Words may fail but strength rebounds
We wake and face our next bright day.

What should the last words be to the dying....I put myself in their place, I would like to hear the words a mother uses for a baby, or you can let go Jesus is waiting for you. When my Husband was dying, in the last minutes my younger son, was telling him fly Daddy fly. Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem, told from your heart. God Bless you and your writing.

True! Grief takes time and there are no words, it seems thoughts are not even our own in grief!
This is wonderfully portrayed here, beautifully moving too!
Words are left stunned in this process!
Beautiful hon:)

So true, time seems to be the only way pain dissipates. This is an extraordinary expression of such powerful loving emotions and painful life events. With your words you take me to a place that I could feel the pain you graciously have shared. ~ Jude oxo

Very beautiful words of comfort and strength, so very, very true. Words may not be able to heal, but they are a great way to start - letting you release your sorrows and losses.

Well done!!
