Work

“Well Kevin, I think that meeting went pretty well. The crew seems to really like Joyce and they are going to work with her. You made the right choice.”
“It did work out pretty well after all, didn’t it? It felt good to have most of the crew here for a meal. How did we do with the call volume?”
“We covered each area with the transfer units and let them float for calls. Response times are a little bit higher, but we still hit our goal for times. I think the shift is really going to like working with Joyce.”
“What’s not to like about her? She’s a hard worker and she’s fair. Plus, I don’t put discipline off on the assistants like the other two shifts and transfer does.  That takes the heat off the assistant.”
“Boss, I have to say you made a good choice. You still have to fill one slot on our shift though.”
“I know. We have to hire a second unit assistant. So many applications for new hires have come in and I haven’t got one single vacancy for any of them. I had forgotten about that slot, though.”
“There’s really only one person who wants that job.”
“That should make the elimination process a lot easier.”
“When do I find out about it? The extra pay might come in handy also. Boots are getting expensive and your sister is making me wear mine out pretty fast.”
“Well, let’s just hold off on that announcement until next week. We need to get this Texas Commerce event figured out.”
“This looks pretty messed up. We must be getting a pretty decent stand by fee to tie up so much equipment.”
“That is an understatement. The fee is over ten thousand, and they paid up front. Look where they want the helicopter. That is a hovering position for a three-hour stretch. The ground units are actually on the rooftop of the TexasCommerceTower. And look at this set up for a safety net? What on earth are we covering here?”
