Arrest

Arrest

A Chapter by George Love

Marco struggled to break free, but the officers had him cuffed and face down on the hard surface. He was unable to see the efforts to save the two injured women, but he could hear the sounds of helicopters taking off and leaving. As they lifted him to his feet, he saw Stacy being loaded in the helicopter. She had blood on her hands and she was still in her sparkly leotard.  He secretly hoped his bullet had caused her harm as well.
“Let’s go, come on get moving!” The officer insisted Marco start walking across the rooftop to the elevator. Marco saw no way to escape and he stopped struggling. “You’re some piece of work, let’s get moving,” the officer said again as he shoved Marco into the elevator. Several other officers got on as well and they each held a close watch over their weapons.
Marco was taken to the main jail where he was allowed the customary phone call. He called his attorney and waited. They hoped for a low bail to be set, but that was not going to be the case today. The judge ordered Marco held without bail until his preliminary hearing in 10 days. Bail would be set at that time based on Marco’s conduct and risk of flight.
Marco’s attorney was also trying to get the murder in the first-degree charge reduced to accidental second-degree manslaughter, but the prosecutor stood firm on the charges. For the first time in his life, Marco could not talk or buy his way out of this. He had to see it through.

Well, thank goodness he can't argue or buy his way out of this...

The tension builds with mention of Stacy and her relationship with Marcus. Hmmmm.

Off to read more!
