Who Am I?

Who Am I?

A Poem by George Love

Who Am I?

I am born to this world a man
And as a man I shall leave it.
I worked my way through my early years
Thought I had the answers
Had more questions than I could count
Turned to music, then other studies
Tried to feed the hungry throngs pizza
At the noon time buffet
Made myself more useful
Making drugs in huge, huge vats
Shampoo your hair or your rug,
Mattered not, I stirred the cauldron!
Later, picked I the life I loved most
Into my ride, I’ll be your host
Your life to save, I do my best
And many I did, for that’s the test
Only those whose sand had crossed
To the bottom of the glass, now lost
To those we know
Although they go
We did our best,
Now let them rest.
Now from these sleepless nights did rise
Throngs of nightmares, surprised?
Now to cope these horrors I write
And send them here day and night.
This is my world, and I welcome you in
Sit a spell, let’s go for a spin!
