WorkingA Poem by George LoveA salute to working women
Working
Sitting high in towers
Or low in the pits
You carry on the task
Leaving behind ones you love
Every day and returning at night
With skillful hand you touch your craft
Shaping, shifting and molding the task
Till all is done and passes such tests
Yet each day passes and rewards come few
Every other week, the meager pay flows
Same work, no less, and more the task
That others would dare criticize the choice
And same are those who fear your second
As you care and nurture the next generation
Rocking the cradle from night into day.
