![]() One QuestionA Poem by George Love![]() A Rant![]()
One Question
Come inside they beckoned
We have all you need
All knowledge one must have
And the way of life which must be shared
Trust us, listen not to their ways
Demented they are and shall always be
Lies in their teeth and poison on their breath
Enter with us, we know the way
Inside they went and soon were bound
By words oft profound
Founded partly on truth, mostly on myth
Yet escape they sought from the poison spray
Half truths they were told and told not to ask
For doing so proved one’s faith weakened
In danger of decay.
Escape they did and followed them now
Words of betrayal, scoundrels they be
Wanton for flesh and desirous of evil
For all they asked was source of light!
From whence dost come that source
To lead one onward towards truth so clear?
Was one question told not to ask
Yet ask they did and found the way out
For once their mouths they opened
They cast out the faith seeking pure knowledge
And now when that last question is asked
Who would know truth?
Is all they request?
A danger they were to the life inside
Outcast as traitors, now live the heroes
Who dared to question and once more escaped
Rhetoric from past, now present, no future.
