Fighting BackA Poem by George LoveFighting back through depression and job burnout
Fighting Back
Reaching for hope
Where none exists
I grasp whatever straw I find
Grappling once with unbridled force
I force my way into daylight
Beat back the dark horse
To embrace a new day
Under my feet I stamp
Its ugly head
As it tries once more
To control my very breath
And now day breaks
And into new light
Its head I see slithering away
I chase it, shout my curses to stay
Out of my world
Too much here so grand
I’ll not bow down
To your darkness I swear!
Mock me now death
And I will not sway
For I will stand yet for one more fight!
It will not take me
Into its dark folds
For once I escaped
I have barred is lair
Warnings I plant for all to see
This monstrous creature
So none it may take.
Fight ye now, Fight I say!
Stand up against its ploys
Not its toys should you ever be
Seek more light,
Yes now even more
Burn into the deep dark lair
And once this battle won
Mark ye this field
Post your warnings
Seek the Light!
Never more shall this demon
Mock our day
Nor shall we ever
Fear its night!
