BetrayalA Chapter by George LoveBeth is betrayed by osmeone she trusts as she tries to escape the testing facility
Betrayal
I woke right on time. I started to carry out my normal routine. I had to act as if nothing was wrong. I went to the lab and found Dr. Menedoza working on something on her computer.
“Good morning Beth. Could you clean out the transport cage for me? We have to move some specimens to Langley today,” she said.
I had no reason to suspect her. She was truthful with me most of the time. This morning, she held back on me. Her thoughts were full of deception. I could sense that.
I had to go about my normal routine. I could not let her know I spied on them. I wanted out and I was almost ready to make my big break.
“Sure,” I said.
I stepped into the cage to clean it and she slammed the door shut on me.
Betrayed! I could not believe she did this to me. She caged me! That meant only one thing. She planned to terminate me. My plan to escape with the rest of my group disappeared. I managed to get my hands on some heavy gloves and bent the electrically charged bars open wide enough for me to escape, and then I did what I had to do.
Within minutes, Dr. Menedoza was asleep. I injected the DNA strands into her and she began to morph into a dog. I needed time to stay with her and reverse the process. I never intended to carry out the entire process. I only wanted to get her attention and force her to talk about how we could all escape termination.
Alarms sounded throughout the compound. That meant only one thing. The Sleep Crews were on the premises. No wonder Dr. Menedoza kept this information from me. She planned to get me out, but I messed up. I messed up big time. Normally, I don’t make mistakes, but when I do, they tend to be huge. This was huge. I had no other choice but to speed up her transformation. I gave her the sedative and hoped for the best. I labeled her DNA and left it in the cooler, along with a note to mark the progress. Doreen and Marshall knew how to reverse this procedure. We reversed this procedure many times in the past. They could handle bringing Dr. Menedoza back to human form. I patted Dr. Menedoza on the head and whispered, “I’m sorry, but I love being alive,” and then I made my break for the dorm complex.
