Block
Pen to paper
Yet blank now it stays
Fingers playing
As the pen they twirl
Ideas forbidden
At this time of day
Must be something
Found to inspire.
As it was
In days gone past
Now it sits
And blinks, yes blinks
As the screen sits blankly
Mocking in its way
Stories to write
Yet nothing will fall
Once to errands
Maybe to strike
Some chord of resonance
And then, but no!
Returning I sit
Blinking it goes
Ringing now catches
The ire I must show!
Drink of the poets
Words of the sonnet
Where hide you now
All ideas of my youth?
Sipping of warmth
More motives to find
As once more
Round the house
Yet nothing abates.
Laughter outside
Maybe children at play
Surely now that
Can stir words
And make flow
Some story of mirth
Youth and more!
Darkly, so darkly
Idea bank draws slowly
Blankly it sits
And blinking still so
Tonight while all sits so still
Was one word found
To this paper?
Nothing now, is all for loss
One day behind.
Shall I still sit
And force words to paper?
Or sit back and watch
These children at play
Join them maybe
And find in my heart
Honest and full
The joy of lost youth
Inspire me now children
And stay moments longer
Now watching and laughing
Homes to them go
Silence still reigns
As I sit not touching
Fingers still dance
Lightly they touch
Words now flow,
But why all the fuss?
Morning shall break
And find me still here
Or to sleep will I now
And hope for a dream?
