The Cape

Why can't we just escape?

Let's fly away,

That's what I say!

From every thought,

That's in your heart,

Is in your mind!

So let's rewind,

Sometimes I think I can escape,

But in your mind there's no cape.

Can't take you away

'Cause it's in your mind

The cape won't let you fly,

So let's rewind,

I can say a million things and mean nothing,

But if you find one that touches your heart,

Then I might just not fall apart.

A million candles can be lit from one.

A million smiles can be stimulated just from one.

This never means much except to me,

But if you begin to see,

What I see,

Then I guess I'll let it be.

I hope one word can mean a little more.

Then a few lines or four.

Very well written. The cape is a nice and very original metaphor that I can honestly say I never saw written in any other piece. It gives the impression that you want to have this great adventure but you are being brought down by something. The subject matter of this piece is very sad, or atleast it is to me, but the way you've written it is so lively and gives it alot of raw emotion. Even a kind of cheerfulness. Its a nice contrast to the dark subject matter, and it makes for a very interesting read.
