"This Heart of Mine in Recent Years"

This was inspired by the death of so many loved ones, the heartbreak & betrayal by my ex-husband & ex-best friend, the loss of a child, regret, & the ability to get back up & continue to live & love.

In recent years,
this heart of mine has been
broken, smashed, beaten, ripped, torn, stabbed,
& glued back together over & over again.

The strength that this vessel has demonstrated
in recent years,
would make even
Goliath & Hercules sick with a spirit of envy,
because unlike them,
this heart of mine can't be defeated.

Between all of the
sorrows, madness, insanity, hurt, & despair,
this heart of mine
has managed to continue its work,
 its endless pursuit of life & purpose
& has never skipped a beat.

In recent years, this heart of mine
has proven itself through & through
& for once I will stand up & face my own battles
& shield my vessel from any damage you may do.
So don't think I'm going to just hand it all over
to someone as heartless as you!
