Companion
Time teaches lessons to us all,
How to act, be & feel,
How to cheat, lie & steal,
To survive, live & take a fall.
In this time we will make,
Choices to guide our lives,
So that we may survive,
And hope they won’t be our biggest mistake.
Friendship is what life is about,
Is what many have come to say,
And in the passing of the days,
Our closest companions we will seek out.
Those we find & grow to love,
We wish to protect from pain,
So that we all might gain,
Some form of enlightenment from above.
Yet hearts create in the mind,
A great divide,
We wish to confide,
In the dearest friends we find.
Yet it would seem to me,
These friends we have made,
Have cost us dearly & we have paid,
Yet it’s done for all to see.
But it’s all better than being alone,
For the many truths of the world cannot be seen,
By those who have not experienced yet & been,
And what’s inside the mind of another,
Really can’t be known.
