The DarknessA Poem by Miles ColellaI honestly don't know what this poem is about. Maybe you can tell me haha.Formless clouds wander aimlessly at dusk. The night swallows them like a black hole, spinning round and round until the sun rises and soothes the fearless beast. Small dots sparkle in the vacant sky - some remote stars, some distant planes - some lonely planets waiting for love, in a sea of darkness lighted by secluded dreams. A voice calls out in quiet desperation. The world of shadows ignores your tears. Fear defeats you and chokes your message; it gets lost in the soft emptiness of night. The wind blows and chills like the dead. Your body shivers as goose bumps form up and down your arms; the coldness breaks your imbalanced thoughts. You’re lost and alone in the darkness - no one to talk to, no one to save you. You don’t know where you’re going or where you’ll end up. We all have darkness, we all stray from the light. Though we may fear the unknown, the scary - the dark - we need it. We need the darkness. For it is in the darkness we discover who we are, and everything we’re capable of. Without darkness, the light would become the darkness. © 2011 Miles Colella |
