My Death ManualA Poem by Miles ColellaMy last words as I descend into the earth for eternal sleep.
When I die, don’t cry for me,
Don’t sigh for me, don’t lie for me.
Don’t ever say you’ll die for me,
Because I know you won’t.
What you can do is hide me, bury me,
No one wants to see me anymore.
If I die first, my love, my life,
Then bury me wherever you choose, wherever
You want to sleep forever.
Be careful now, make sure there’s room
For us to get a good eternity’s sleep.
Make sure the view is…
Never mind.
To all my friends who weep for me,
Shed those tears immediately.
I would not cry for you if you went first,
Or maybe I would, no one knows,
Just like death, it could be great,
But you’ll never know until it’s your time.
But it’s not your time, it is mine,
So don’t steal away from my glory
By crying so loud and making a scene.
Make this occasion a good occasion
And talk about me and smile at me
And laugh about the good ol’ times.
One last thing before I go
Even though I’m already gone.
Please don’t change,
Don’t give up on life.
Just do the same, think the same
As if I’m still here by your sides.
I cannot ask for more but for you to
Remember me as I was.
That is all you have to do;
Remember.
