Incinerate

Incinerate

A Poem by Miles Colella
"

A poem about love, passion, and heartache.

"

Trapped in a mystical basin of fire.

                   Taken over. Swallowed by

                   Angry, visceral flames.

                   The fire burns.

It sears my skin and boils my flesh.

It’s burning. Burning from the outside.

I’m burning on the inside – for you.

Burning for you. Dying for you.

Lungs of smoke, black with love. Desire.

                   It never ends. The passion.

But it does. The passion ends.

And when it does, it hurts. Badly.

Like someone is pulling my heart

Down into my stomach, with a knife, jagged and sharp,

Scraping the insides of my core, everything spills out.

The fire returns. In my heart, which bleeds and bleeds

                   Until there’s nothing left.

                   Nothing left but darkness.

My heart is hollow. Empty. Forever destroyed.
