Every Night

Every Night

A Poem by Islay
"

I am in dire need of an outlet to how I feel, and I hope my writing becomes better as time goes by.

"

Every night the tears from my eyes become the droplets from the shower head.

You’re the last thought on my mind before I close my eyes,

And be dragged to a restless slumber.

Every night my dreams draw up the image of you, being the way you used to be.

My heart aches and tears fall from my face.

A toxic cocktail of happiness and sadness is forcefully shoved down my throat when you smile at me.

Every night I wish to go back to do so many things different,

All to make you stay.

To take back some of the things I’ve said, and to have treated you better when it was needed.

My heart breaks forevermore thinking of what was lost.

Every night I hope you think of me as much I do you.

To be on your mind as much as I used to.

You are the one for me, and I hope you see, you mean the whole damn world to me.

Every night I close my eyes and ignore my thoughts tearing me down over you.

I dream of a future we’ve discussed having and living the rest of my life besides you.

Confided in you, and given all the love to see you benefit from it.

Every night you’re on my mind, and I dream you’re still mine.
