Hopeful eyes

Hopeful eyes

A Poem by Denim wite

The eyes of children are clean
for they are eyes filled with wonder.

        They are
eyes untouched by the darkness
eyes not corrupted by fear
eyes who have not beheld tears
nor blood
nor doubt
nor disdain or anger

The vices of the world are learned
for wounds can become man's cruelest teachers
and unforgiveness the enforcers of their lessons

when whilst we understand
that the eyes of children
are not something we are born with
only to be stripped away-

But blessings that we can keep
if only we take ahold of the good truth
and shake off the terrible cruelty
that comes from this world?

When will we realize that a child's eyes
are not the eyes of naivety
but eyes that look into the light of hearts
eyes that pierce into the very roots of reason
eyes that desire learning and understanding?

A child's eyes are not ignorant
but open
to the things that our minds would deny
though they exist

they are open to the goodness that exists deep within

they are open to possibility

but most of all, they are open

to hope.

I like this, I think we would be surprised in how much children may know or sense by just watching and they are usually wanting to learn, so we have to be careful to encourage and help them grow and not take away the longing to want to learn and understand.

Good Job
