Bennie

Bennie

A Poem by Meghan

So anxious and too much to do
simple fix is two little blue pills
I can see everything now,
but I don't really want to.

It's nice though, how
I was running short on inspiration
And these racing thoughts
transfer better now

It's nice though, how
My heartbeat feels nice
and the focus I had lost
is back now

But the only thing I can think is
I may be the writer
but they have better things to say
I may be smarter
but they take it day by day
I may have the perfect words
but they know the perfect way
and everything I worked so hard for
can be quickly snatched away.

'they' are the 'bennies,' and the 'bennies' are amphetamines?

Who is exactly "they"? Only that much was unclear. The poem would have been stronger if it did not give the impression of a narrative. Dab a little soul into it, a little emotion to stir, and you've got yourself something worthwhile here. Keep it up. Thank you for sharing.

A interesting poem. Your words are true. Need to stay focus and strong. A lot of negative can go against us. There is no perfect words. Just words that may give comfort and pleasure to other people. We need to stay positive. Negative lead us to a bad place. Thank you for a excellent poem.

Lovely poem. Relaxing with an undertone of anxiousness and hate.
