Scarecrow

Scarecrow

A Poem by Meghan
"

For Caroline

"

You’re my scarecrow
‘Cos I’ll miss you most of all
Except in every case
You help ME when I fall

You have the brains
In most every situation
Don’t let anybody ever
Tell you any different

And I’m the tin man
‘Cos I don’t believe in my heart
I’m jaded and broken
But you knew it was there from the start

I guess you’re also my Wizard
The girl behind the curtain
Coz you help me see things in myself
That before I wasn’t certain of

You are my Glenda
I’m my own Wicked Witch
I start to melt myself
You step in with a Northern kiss

You save me
You’re my yellow brick road
You’re my Emerald City
You’re somewhere over the rainbow

Wow I picked this one, because my mother had a special affection for the Wizard of Oz and you used it in a way I have never been seen before. I love it. This poem brought back so many memories of her, I amd thankful to the core for this read.

Brilliant, I guess I don't to point the obvious and blurt out what the inspiration is! But nice work! I can see a lot of similarities with that of companionship intermingled with cinema. Nice job and keep it up! I would love to read more!

The strangest thing... from the first line - I thought of Oz... anyway -

I've read most if not all of Baum and seen (as probably everyone else has) "The Wizard Of Oz". I attended "The Wiz", and "Wicked". Even read Gregory Maguire's tales of the other side of the stories. "Tin Man" had the best slant of all for being the newcomer on the block.

You really placed an exceptional load on the other main char of this poem of your existence. I hope it was fair.

Nice work. Elegiac in some regards, especially with the last line.

I don't know how to tell you how much I love this so I think I'll just save it in my favorites and tattoo it on my face later on too and always carry a mirror. This is really beautiful.
