I'm leaving

and you're not coming with me

but my words just won't agree

because words and thoughts like that can fester

and words and thoughts like that hurt, i should know

and I wouldn't wish that pain on anything or anybody

especially not you

and you can tell me

about the successes you've made

and fill me in

on the girls in your life

and tell me more

of the hometown strife

And those words will kill me to hear

and those words will hurt more than anything

but you there for me is more important than me being with you

especially now

So my best friend

is what you must stay

i'll have to forget

what you told me that day

I know what you said was while you were intoxicated

but sober thoughts are drunken words

if you didn't mean it then tell me right now, honey

tell me right now 

say the words

cause love you i will

until the summer stars are gone

for a long, long time.
