Undone SoulA Poem by Meghan
Eldest daughter, undone soul, breathe deep
Listen thru the wall, hear your baby brother cry And you'll hear your sister whispering Say "It's scary at first but you get used to the screams And the pleas And when she's big enough Someday she'll leave" The first thing that you feel is a fit of rage Then you realize she's gotten too cold for her tiny age And beside the vase of roses that are wilted, you leave a page It says goodbye Stubborn father, saddened fool, you'll dream Of the family man you always thought you'd be When your first girl lost her mind at four You tried to fight it out, but you can't do that no more You can't no more You let her go And you locked the door And she'll come back begging you to let her in She'll come back with hope running out of her eyes She'll come back, but you've given up Wistful mother, let your guilty conscience die Blame can't be placed when the truth is disguised Since Midland Park in nintey five You've paid, and worked, and prayed, and cried But it's time to let your baby fly It's no ones fault But she's gotta try She was the first thing in life you ever loved With a dangerous spirit, a mind like a loaded gun And you tried to help her often, but your love was not enough And it's not in your hands anymore © 2013 MeghanReviews
