I Couldn't Stop ScreamingA Poem by clisaNo Description, Just a Cry
I couldn't stop screaming
as the tornado tore apart our house I couldn't stop screaming when they drove by and shot my son changing his baby's diaper I couldn't stop screaming when the building collapsed and fell on top of my love, my children, my father I couldn't stop screaming when my commanding officer raped me and then I had to report the rape to him I couldn't stop screaming when they forced the tube down my throat trying to make me eat when all I wanted was to leave Guantanamo I couldn't stop screaming when I went to the Emergency Room In pain asking for help, and the Doctor said, "Get a job with Insurance" We can't stop weeping until justice gets evenly applied until everyone knows they are connected until it doesn't matter if you work, where you work, what gender you are, where you live in the world We can't stop weeping
