Lasso the Moon (rewrite)

Lasso the Moon (rewrite)

A Poem by clisa
"

A rewrite of a poem I wrote last year

"
I stand on an ocean shore,
"Lasso the moon,"
I ask Neptune.
Golden chains
stretch into the
sky where the full
moon hangs round and lovely
it grows larger
larger still
I can feel its weight
begin to press
on gravity
pushing me down
closer
closer
it comes
revealing craters
footprints and flags
oxygen rushes away
as the moon draws close
gasping I stand on
tiptoe
brushing the rocky surface
with fingertips
then it rushes back
and air fills my lungs
gasping I watch
it grow
smaller
smaller
smaller still
hanging again
in its rightful place
as water rushes
back into tide
around my feet
Neptune laughs
before sinking
beneath the sea

Wow! I was holding my breath reading this. What a clever angle for a write. Lovely. Mitch.

Thanks - The imagery was so strong in my head I just had to write it.
