3. rightful heir

3. rightful heir

A Chapter by Jordan Williams

your mouth is parched with thirst

that downed drinks make far much worse

did you expect her kiss to wet your dry wishing soul?

you gulped down compliments

quickly came, easily dispensed

with spilled cups you tried to fill up that persistent hole

please forgive me, darling

i didn't mean to be unkind

but there is no prince charming

behind this masquerade to find

please forget me, darling

our stars are not aligned

let thoughts of a new prince charming

replace me in your mind

your arms are opened bare

to embrace hope and care

was your thought her touch so soft could soothe your savagery?

a beauty for the beast

but gentility deceased

he pulled her in and fooled her with unintended mastery

please forget me, darling

the beast can't be redeemed

the masquerade of prince charming

is not as handsome as you deemed

please forgive me, darling

i am not what i seemed

the image of prince charming

is an image you only dreamed

an animal could be made man

and strive for a higher existence

but when claws start to replace hands

they offer a stronger resistance

what you once called darling

turned out to be a shell

an imitation of prince charming

that i made up so well

and he would call her darling

in a story one love could tell

of a pretty princess and prince charming

after all the masquerades fell
