A Chapter by Jordan Williams

please don't encourage him

you're nourishing his malnourishment

as soon as one song's done, you wonder when

he'll share more of his uncertains

as your ears are softly killed

your heart is cautiously filled

with hope that's grim

for as you swim

he drowns

please don't nourish her

not a flaunter, but a flourisher

but sure is sure and pure is pure

the melody, the harmony, as she suffers

the soothing also stings

a gift she's called to bring

before she sighs and sits

but never tries to quit

the sound

please don't you write those lines

you're itching, but try to fight, not pine

we should have tried to sight the signs

quit now and you might be fine

but your heart expands

it's out of your hands

silence is not enough

you cannot lock it up

deep down

now you inflame certain traits

reactions that cared not to wait

they keep you up and down, early and late

and won't let you concentrate

you join the poet mourners

but stay in your corners

only to emerge in light

after what you try to write

is found
