2. better in a letter

A Chapter by Jordan Williams

my shyness often cripples

reduces grand hopes to little

more than lost future memories that travel to me in ripples

dreams of the night and day

could be more if I find a way

to sweetly serenade with hidden layers that I tried to say

I could not aspire to utter

how you treatment what once shuddered

but when I write the words down, there's no trace of a stutter

when you eyed into my looks

my disjointed words you mistook

me as a fool, but they're clear when I transcribe them into a book

because when I try to speak

the phrases come out rather weak

cliches we say that aren't unique

derived from others who dared to speak

your beauty motivates me

but simultaneously hesitates me

to express my best confessions that convinces you and relates me

to a celestial-sent angel

that every corporeal tries to wrangle

i'm un-lingual as a single trapped breath leaves me strangled

the awkward ramblings of a nerd

are often handled as unheard

quickly dismissed and overlooked as he is left injured

but after he takes time to brood

he puts the listeners in the mood

with readings of his needings, his starvation is their food

because when I try to converse

I prove that there are none worse

so-so sayings become some verse

that put me past others who can converse

so the next time you are roped

into a discussion with a dope

whose lack of tact leaves an impact of a fellow with no hope

don't be surprised when that vibe

that formerly didn't jibe

is transformed into poetry that your awestruck heart can't describe

because when we try to talk

the flow crumbles like old chalk

but our minds don't run, they walk

unlike those playboys who can smoothly talk
