19. spare me, shakespeare

19. spare me, shakespeare

A Chapter by Jordan Williams

shakespeare's words paved the way, a path of pursuit my heart took

he found the phrases effortlessly and filled in book on book

his writings winds that sailed his soul on waves of babbling brooks

his gusts and gales are just pale compared to your enchanting looks

i measure them in alluring lures that reel me in like hooks

i treasure them as memories hoarded in my mind's nook

they stilled my stance in sure footing though the ground around me shook

they simmer what once shivered as my thawing heart begins to cook

a hidden coldness i tried to horde, but you absconded like a crook

i’ll wait for your willing warmth til it's a gift i won't have to rook

i follow shakespeare and play poet, writing layers in book on book

he helped forge these words, but all the emotions came from just your look
