Daydream

Daydream

A Poem by Lilah Cleare

Daydream, what a stupid word
More like telling lies is what i heard

They way you want it to be
For better or for worse is what all i can see

I wear gowns, I drink tea
Am I a princess? Am I a queen?

And just like that, in a snap
I am back to reality

Do you see what I see?
Did you hear what i heard?
Do you understand what i mean?

I am a peasant wearing rags
I had my chance to be a princess or a queen

But not anymore,
Because I'm out of daydream

I like the way you have erected a barrier between dreams and reality in this particular poem and the manner in which you explore how dreams impact on our waking lives, often making them seem more drab and grey - at least that's what I got from the tone of the poem. Good work. Keep it up!
