To Bethany

To Bethany

A Poem by Clare Ashbury
"

A first of some birthday presents

"

Through all the times

When all I needed was a friend

Through thick and thin

I’ve always known who I could depend

Depend on to make me smile

To comfort me when I’m in need

Never a fight between us

Or bad blood

Between you and me

I see you as all I need in a best friend

So many I thought I could give the title

So many times have I been wrong

But truly I will say

The title is yours and yours alone

Through all the laughter

Tears and late night drives

Sleep over’s

And shots of our JD

Clubs and first fist fights together

And even going green with a beautiful plant friend

Gangster talk, Brady Bunch Smiles

Woodstock stories

And never do we lie

So many moments have we lived together

In the end

It’s Friendship

That never will ever end.

Happy Birthday, Bethany..

            Love you.
