How Would I Go On Without You

How Would I Go On Without You

A Poem by Susie Q
"

FACING THE INEVITABLE

"

Death is the final step in life that we must endure.

I learned only yesterday you are going away. I hold

out hope a miracle will occur and you can remain

without pain to do the things you love most. Your

smile and gentle soul with songs you sing from the

heart are what keeps everyone going.  I know this

time will come to all of us someday and I know you

you are ready for this journey but hard for your

family and friends to comprehend. You have served

your church and country well. You were created to

be the best son, brother, husband, father, uncle

and in-law anyone could ever hope for and you

fulfilled your role like none other. We have heard

about miracles and we pray for just one more to

keep you here with us for much longer without

pain and grant your wish and give you peace.

WE LOVE YOU!

Author's Note

Susie Q
Written for my brother, Walter Albert Miller (Buss), in a VA nursing home in Anderson, South Carolina for the past year and a half after surviving two surgeries for brain tumors. He has had some strokes, has trouble speaking and can't walk anymore and all he wishes for is to go home and be able to sing again. Like I said he is amazing and doctors have been wrong before. He served in the Air Force in Korea and Viet Nam. Please say a prayer for him. ( My brother went to his eternal home Sunday July 08, 2012)

I will Pray for a man I do not know, for it is not to know him but to know that he was loved by all. He was loved by all who did know him and by some who did not. I will say a prayer for your brother, because he is a fellow human being and for that he deserves my prayer. I will say a prayer for your brother because his service to this country alone warrants that and more. I will say a prayer for a man I did not know because his brother asked me too and because I would like to know that someone that did not know my brother might do the same.

Please give your brother my heart felt thanks. Not only for his service to this country, but also for his enduring strength. Tell him thank you for me, for reminding me that humanity is not lost and that a perfect stranger can touch my heart.

Heart wrenching emotion throughout your well written poem. I am so sorry for your loss. Your brother obviously was a brave man, not just in Korea and Viet Nam, but in life. He was lucky to have a sister like you. It is an honor to his memory for you to share this with us. Lydi**

Wow. Sorry for the loss. Good to know that...:)
A very strong poem that moves every reader, a tragic story. And be sure, every reader will understand you and wish you strength and comfort. And a very good poem, too.

Poignant write, the loss of someone so near and dear is difficult. All the best , he is alive in your heart and memories.

Your poetic heart and your heart of love for your dear brother brought your heartache so close to home. May you find comfort in all the beautiful memories, and in the reunion you will one day have.

A great tribute. And yes I will pray for him and for you.

Air Force! A man of strength naturally and may that strength be with him at this difficult time. Sickness is always trying but it brings out the best in family and friends as the support group builds up.

We never want our loved ones to go, we cling to hope and miracles. But the one who is ill, tires of the pain and this earthly body, longs to put on his heavenly body, where pain is no more. I pray for a miracle for you and him. I pray for you to be comforted, if God wants to bring him home. I rejoice for him, when he loses all the earthly baggage and sorrow. A very nice write. Barbara
