Silence Kills

Silence Kills

A Poem by clairvoyantmars

What’s the point in shouting your name

When words can’t reach you, so you never came

Why do I still reach out to thin air

For a lingering touch that was truly not there

The stains on my pillow, rumpled sheets on my bed

Mem’ries play over and over inside my head

The endless ticking of the clock pushes me

Almost to the brink of insanity

The shadows engulf me, the loneliness keeps

The dreams from escaping as I fall asleep

The silence, it kills me, pulsing inside my head.

So I cover my ears and sing lullabies instead.

The moaning and wailing slices through the night

The shadows retreating to corners in fright

They hinder my dreaming and nightmares stop by

To torture my sanity until it dies.

Very well written and emotional. Reminds me of Poe.

A very emotional write. Well written, well thought out.

Suggestion- in the second line, while reading, I had to pause as it didn't sound right. It goes from present continuous to past....'So you never came'...this has to be present continuous too. But again, this is personal choice as it depends what you want to write and convey.
