Silence Kills

Silence Kills

A Poem by clairvoyantmars

What’s the point in shouting your name

When words can’t reach you, so you never came

Why do I still reach out to thin air

For a lingering touch that was truly not there

The stains on my pillow, rumpled sheets on my bed

Mem’ries play over and over inside my head

The endless ticking of the clock pushes me

Almost to the brink of insanity

The shadows engulf me, the loneliness keeps

The dreams from escaping as I fall asleep

The silence, it kills me, pulsing inside my head.

So I cover my ears and sing lullabies instead.

The moaning and wailing slices through the night

The shadows retreating to corners in fright

They hinder my dreaming and nightmares stop by

To torture my sanity until it dies.

I didn't really catch onto what was happening, but the words and imagery are fantastic! :)

Your poem speaks of a haunting lonelieness, this gave me shivers...
This poem has beauty, despite the pain you write of.
It flowed excellently.
You did such a wonderful job with this, the pain written here...too much for words even. So this review is short, but I'm telling you, you've done fantastic.

I agree with Rachel, this was hauntingly beautiful. The imagery, the rhymes, everything. Nothing seemed forced or out of sync. It was very well done. J'adore!

Hauntingly beautiful subject and poem. The emotions is shown through the flow of the poem, well done. I really can't say enough about the sheer mechanics and how well they work on this piece. Amazing write. ^w^

It is in silence that we can hear the echoes of our hearts.
That is the main reason why people are so afraid of silence. They are so scared to hear their own voice. And in moments of silence such as that... There is no other way but through it. The void in which people are so neurotic of... Catastrophic thinking.. The noise that can be brought by silence can be deafening... But it's not really the silence that creates that deadly noise.. It's the internal noise a person keeps inside... It's so stored that in the moment of silence... You can hear it loud and clear... Taking away your sanity.... The noise that is suppressed inside bends the being that lives in you...

Really nice write :0 ^^

The neglect and the assumptions does seem to suffocate a relationship; communication is the bloodline - i can see why you say silence kills.

Silence can be golden but it's true, all too often silence is pain...:(
