Hot Water

What would it feel like if hot rain fell from the sky?

Burning and scorching all the passersby

We’ll wonder if God’s angry and had to cry

Those bittersweet tears that were wholly divine

 

What are those bright stars that fall from your eyes?

They land on my shoulder and stain your goodbyes

Save and collect them until the right time

Return them to the heart that used to be mine

The thought that God would be mad at us, and punish the whole world is amazing.
The fact that he woudl send boiling water from the sky is intensly intriguing, and I couldn't help but wonder how large of a sucsess this would be if you kept on going.
I LOVE this piece, and I've already added it to my library, I just think that it has a lot more potential than what you've given it credit for.

Really like the style and substance in this poem, clair. The shared image of God's tears and the beloved's tears...incredibly effective and gorgeous both. In the first stanza, last line, "were" would agree with "tears" instead of "was". If you were to rework the rhythm slightly in two lines, you could transmute a good and beautiful piece into truly great poetry. This is very, very, very good work...please aspire to greatness.

I really love this! I love how you used a short and sweet poem to give such a lovely, and magical poem. It left me thinking about the stars and the hot tears. The imagery was amazing.
