Below your feetA Poem by clairekeown25
A world beneath
A world below The birds flock by The north winds blow Mists sweep beneath The cracked ice sheets Ice pixies veils Trip dancing feet The crevasse sighs At winters cry With wondered eyes You step inside Valedictions to the sky The old world now has passed you by Brass pillars line this secret pass Strange fauna, not quite leaves or grass Icy fingers trail your spine No creature but fears relentless whine As darkness closes one final door Of the world that is to you no more Hyrogliphic symbols twist and expand A dancing language, foreign hand An earthy ballet paints these walls Strange magic hear its beckon call A queer sensation, not right at all Onto your hands and knees you fall! But on and on and on you crawl Awakened now with heavy eyes The new world greets you. Mystified. Golden shimmer, dreamy haze Your thoughts quite lost inside this maze What once was body, once was mind Once was thirsty, once was blind Once was angry, once overcome, Once was led by lips and tongue What once was fueled by greed and lust Once craving peace or love or trust Once searching perfection, dwelling in tears Ambition, rejection, acceptance and fear What once to you was a true cause Is gone now, what once was, just was.
