A Poem by Cassidy Mask

The Stars

Twinkled above me

And I wondered

What it was like to be alone

The Sea

Stretched out before me

And I wondered

What it was like not to be afraid

The Road

Twisted beneath my feet

And I wondered

What it was like to have direction

You

Held my frozen fingers

And I wondered

What it was like not to feel guilt

The Stars

Told me they were cold

The Sea

Confessed to a single fear

The Road

Admitted it knew not where it ended

And You

My dear

You condemned me

And now my fingers are empty

(Of your hand

And their blood)
