Heart Attack (Death Of A Pavement Angel)A Poem by Cassidy Mask
The world is a still And silent Freeze frame And I, Lying here With a dying heart, I am the Pavement Angel My arms are Flung wide In a messy sprawl My legs Twisted beneath me My wings Invisible Against the Smooth grey Of the concrete slabs On which I rest Too tired to fly To the more Traditional (More Comfortable) Clouds above I am the Pavement Angel With my soft Tired Crumpled Features My wrinkled skin And my sticklike Limbs I lay A broken shell A mere shadow Of a former self So fragile Against the cool Ground That the Paramedics (With their Young and healthy Appearances) Are afraid to Move me I smile A thin (Angelic) Smile And say ‘Don’t worry I’m quite alright Here thank you, I’m just having A little rest’ I ignore their Strange looks And muttered Words (Heart Attack Is used a fair Few times) And sink deeper Into the Trance-like Haze that seems To surround me And suddenly The clouds Have rushed down To greet me The winds ruffling My feathers I guess I’m not A Pavement Angel Anymore…
