Autumnal Lies

Autumnal Lies

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I was there when the leaves fell

Shades of Yellow

Orange

            Red

            Twisting

            Falling

            Dancing

            Falling

            Fluttering

            Falling

                        Falling

                                    Falling

Just like me

            Just like all of us

When we fell for your

Fake smiles

            Your false laughs

Your twisted

            Twisting

            Words

We fell

            Just like you thought

We would

            Just like you knew

We would

                        But why?

            What was the point?

To your distorted

            Half-truths

                        And downright

            Lies.

What was the point?

I was there when the leaves fell

                        (When your lies fell)

Shades of Yellow

                        Orange

                                    Red

                        (On to innocent ears)

Twas the end of our innocent years
