Paranoia

Paranoia

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Did you suspect the shadows as you lay in that cell

Did you suspect them of stealing your sanity

Did you suspect the drips as you listened to the rain

Did you suspect them of teaching you vanity

Did you suspect the clouds as they covered the sky

Did you suspect them of bringing the darkness

Did you suspect the stars as they glittered above

Did you suspect them of making you heartless

Did you suspect the echoes as they surrounded you

Did you suspect them of driving you barking

Did you suspect the whispers as they built around you

Did you suspect them of quietly laughing

Did you suspect yourself as you cursed in the dark

Did you suspect yourself as the confiner

The person who incarcerated you

In the prison

They call

Paranoia
