More Ways Than This

More Ways Than This

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

He was lost,

you could see it. Lost,

in more ways than this.

Folded arms

fallen shoulders.

And I,

trying to remember

how to help,

got caught in

wonderings of

cause and effect.

He lacked conviction

in all things

but especially this.

Her voice was

like the snapping

of old cords.

He strained to see

how change could

be a good thing.
