Blindness

Blindness

A Poem by Chong N. Kim

Blindness

You profess your adoration for me,

Yet my dreams you deny.

Birth of my child

You refuse to recognize

On the surface

You portray the “Hero”,

You suit of armor

Glosses the Perfect Human,

But deep within,

You are filled

With emptiness and insecurity,

So fathomless,

You can’t see the monster within.

I feel poisoned

By your manipulation

You swore never to hurt me,

But are you aware

Of your treacherous control

That kills my soul daily?

I didn’t want to sub come to this,

But I’ll have to employ

My survival techniques once again,

You may be a different beast,

But your intentions of suppressing

My spirit is all the same.

I will elude this

Fairytale romance,

You call “Love”

And find myself,

Once again.

In the meantime,

I am here nurturing

To your blindness . . .

In fear of the faceless bomb,

A race against time,

Only to wait for your wicked

Wrath to unleash,

So until then,

I must keep you in calmness,

So the violence doesn’t

Explode.

"I must keep you in calmness,
So the violence doesn’t
Explode."
These words are classic. A quote with real truth and most of us must obey the calmness to be separated from the violence. I was lucky. I got marry at 36 years old. I knew life wasn't a fairytale. I was flexible and easy. Young people need to understand. Honeymoon last for a short time. Real life ain't so easy. I like the story and the outstanding ending. Thank you for a excellent poem.
