Conflicted

Conflicted

A Poem by Chong N. Kim

Conflicted

I feel so conflicted

When my emotions are for you.

One minute I’m in love

And the next,

I feel so far away from you.

What is it,

I just can’t describe,

Since I am unable to comprehend it myself.

There are times I wonder

If I’m just looking out for me

Or deliberately sabotaging

Something good?

When I have departed from your arms

I remember all the details

Of your slander.

When I am in your presence,

I feel delusional

That I’m being too high maintenance,

But when I am reminded

Of your critic,

I feel so insignificant

Because I have failed

Beauty in your eyes.

You say you admire

The woman in me from 10 years past,

And try your hardest

to shape me to your standards?

When it comes to you,

I feel so conflicted inside.

I have never known love,

But I know this isn’t it.

So, what is it that is keeping me

Here bondage to you?

Rescue me from this confusion,

My heart can’t take anymore.

Why can’t I be your queen as the way I am?

Why can’t you just accept my imperfect body?

Do you truly embrace the woman

You call your wife,

Or are you consumed by your ignorance

You can’t see the control that you love?

We will question love many times in a life. For two people to stay strong. Both must be able to be flexible and kind. Time will steal from passion and desire. Friendship and common interest keep two people together a lifetime. When you forget what brought two hearts together. Love may fade away and the walls can cave in. A strong poem that asked many important questions. A excellent poem.

We are in the world of hurt; All of those afflictions, inflictions, and what you just said, conflictions... It's pretty ironic how people change over the time where we once knew and thought that they'll never change... Sure, we already knew that people always change, but we never expect for them to change for better or what we always feared the most; for worse...

To me, this piece is like a letter to someone for the confrontion, almost like a closure in some ways?

Other than that, it's pretty hard to read, because I know almost exactly what you meant by that and it sure does show some effects... But, it's still good tho...
