Because of you

Because of you

A Poem by Chong N. Kim

Because of you . . .

Fragile as my heart seems,
My soul is drifting in
Another world.
As I look into your eyes,
I only see you and me.

My body yearns for your touch,
My hands longing to hold you tight,
My fingers caress your face
As you sleep soundly at night.

Is this what I’m supposed to feel?
Tell me, because I’m so confused . . .
Never feeling like this before,
So afraid to let it all go.

You tell me you cherish your space,
I’m not asking for you to settle down.
But when my thoughts revert to you,
I can’t help but wonder
A life with you.

As I gaze into the starlight,
I can’t help but to wonder
Just what you’ve done to my heart.
I’ve promised myself
That I would never get trapped in
Like a fool I was to the others

All the fears that held up
Me and you,
All my insecurities
Just lost in the moment.

As you take my hand in yours
I want to go where you are going,
As you hold me in your arms
Let me know you will catch me
As I fall.

Never thought a feeling like this
Could rise,
When it was once beyond my reach.
Hoping someday you would feel
The way I do.
But if you don’t,
I’ll be okay,
Just promise me you won’t lead me on.

I’m torn in two,
Apart of me wants to be with you,
The other is so afraid to lose again.
Please don’t tell me to rush,
Be patient with me
And you will soon have all of me.

At this moment you are all that I see,
There’s no one else in my heart
That I paint a picture of
A world of love
Just me and you.
