Acceptance

Acceptance

A Poem by Chong N. Kim

Acceptance

No one ever proclaimed that life came with a price tag...
Who said that life was fair?

Social pressure or happiness?
Such is the choice for a particular person...

Lodged between what is real and what is expected...

Confusion within dreams and nightmares...

Remaining in solitude......isolation ensues...

"Is the choice really mine?"

A phase or a disease

Longing for the arguments to cease:
Life is too short...temporary existence...
"Stop trying to force me into a mold..."

One hears it on the news;
the television resounds its echoes.

Never thought it could happen to this person.

Biblical judgment thrown at me,
“Hell” echoes the air people scream,
Does this mean that I am no longer Christ’s child?

Can there be parental explanation?
They possess such boundless hopes for their
one and only...

How much longer should there be security in hiding?
How many years must one continue to suffer?

Acceptance and compassion is all that is required.

The physical temple which houses the soul;
Should it matter who caresses it in love and care?

Awaiting for God’s silent answer:
Thinking it best to move on;
never allowing the family to know....

Their son was gay....
