UnleashedA Poem by Chong N. Kim
Unleashed
For years I've been a dormant to the world,
Put a mask on my face Pretend that I am what you see. Exhausted from all the lies I had to memorize just to impress those who could care less. My tears have become arid and dry, no more will I suppress my spirit no more will I continue to be the dancing ballerina. I am who I am and if you can't accept that, then I don't need you in my life. Your criticism is nothing more but your shallow opinion of my success, I will brush the canvass with flashes of photography, it will be my art. My voice will praise in the tune of my success and joys and others will relate to my lyrics. My body is the image of the Perfect Woman, not by your ignorant standards. I have unleashed who I really am. The woman I am suppose to be and that is me. My acquaintances call me a hero, but I'm imperfect in every way. My friends say I'm crazy, because I'm not afraid to take risks. If I was spoon-fed through every lie that was said to me, I wouldn't be the person who I am today. This is me, Unleashed and ready to step into the world. Take me as I am, or leave me be, cause your opinion I just don't need. (c) Chong N. Kim, 2008 © 2008 Chong N. Kim |
