Lost

Lost

A Poem by Chong N. Kim

Lost

My tears have become invisible to you,

I try to make this work,

But my words have no voice.

Your hands that touch me feel so cold,

My heart of passion is now far away from you.

Why hang on to something that has departed.

I look at you and try to smile,

But my heart lays heavy with a lie.

There are times we must face reality,

That our souls aren’t meant to be.

I’ve long for a wedding song,

But nothing in return from you.

I’ve long to create a family,

But I feel so isolated when I’m with you.

I fill my time with distraction,

But the pain is still within,

Why am I here holding you,

When I can barely stand?

I thought I was strong,

I thought I could be yours,

But this masquerade I can not do,

I have to let you go.

If what I’m doing is right for me,

Then why am I left behind

Feeling so lost.
